Rosario, Argentina: travel guide
A riverside city on the Paraná with murals, culture and a famous flag monument
Birthplace of Che Guevara and Lionel Messi — a cosmopolitan riverside city with a vibrant art scene, murals, and excellent restaurants.
About Rosario
Rosario is a large city on the banks of the Paraná river, and a lively cultural counterpart to Buenos Aires. Its most recognisable landmark is the Monumento Nacional a la Bandera, a monumental tower and memorial dedicated to the Argentine flag, which stands close to the riverfront.
The city has a proud arts scene, with galleries, theatres and murals, and the waterfront parks are a pleasant place to walk, eat and watch the river. Rosario also holds a place in football lore as the home town of Lionel Messi.
It is a good fit for a short city break, or a stop between Buenos Aires and the interior. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons.
