Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin), Thailand: travel guide
Old-fashioned seaside town with a long beach, night market and royal links
A retro seaside town with a long sandy beach, night market, royal palaces, and a relaxed atmosphere away from party scenes.
About Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin)
Hua Hin is a seaside town in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. It began life as a royal retreat in the early twentieth century and still has a gentler, more old-fashioned atmosphere than many Thai beach resorts.
Things to do in Hua Hin include walking the long sandy beach, browsing the night market for seafood and snacks and visiting the Maruekhathaiyawan Palace, a wooden summer residence built on stilts by the sea. Golf courses, a vineyard area and Khao Takiab hill with its temple and monkeys are nearby.
Hua Hin suits families, couples and golfers looking for an easy break from Bangkok. The cooler months from November to February are the most pleasant.
