A forested spa town famed for its mineral water and national park
Forested spa town in Samtskhe-Javakheti famous for its naturally carbonated mineral water, the Borjomi Central Park springs, a cable car and the vast Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.
About Borjomi
Borjomi is a green spa town in a wooded river gorge in south-central Georgia, known across the region for its naturally carbonated mineral water. The town grew up around its springs, and the central park is a pleasant place to stroll, with a spring where you can try the water yourself.
Beyond the park, there is a cable car above town, a spa heritage of old villas, and the large Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park on its doorstep, which offers marked walking trails through forest. The town works as a stop between Tbilisi and the south-west of the country, including the cave town of Vardzia.
Borjomi suits nature walks and slower travel. Summer is cool and shaded, and autumn colours are a highlight.
