Small volcanic island of white sandbars, springs and sunken ruins
A small volcanic island province off northern Mindanao, known for White Island sandbar, Mantigue Island, the Sunken Cemetery, and hot and cold springs.
About Camiguin
Camiguin is a small volcanic island province off the north coast of Mindanao, and it packs an unusual amount of scenery into a compact area. Seven volcanoes rise from the island, with rivers, waterfalls, hot and cold springs and lush forest in between.
The best-known sights include White Island, a crescent sandbar with views back to the mountains, and Mantigue Island, a marine sanctuary good for snorkelling. The Sunken Cemetery marks where an old settlement slipped beneath the sea after an eruption, and the main road around the island makes for an easy, scenic circuit by scooter or tricycle.
Camiguin suits couples and nature lovers. The drier months from March to May are the most reliable.
