About Ormoc
Ormoc is a port city on the western coast of Leyte, and a key ferry connection between Cebu and the wider Eastern Visayas. It is mainly a transit point and regional trading centre, but it opens the door to some of the island's best natural attractions.
Lake Danao Natural Park, in the hills above the city, is a quiet crater lake ringed by forest and trails, with paddle boats and picnic spots. The surrounding uplands are known for their geothermal activity, which supplies much of the region's power. In town, the waterfront and local markets give a taste of everyday Leyte life.
Ormoc suits travellers moving between islands who want to add a short nature stop. The drier months from February to May are generally the most comfortable.
