Labuan Bajo, Indonesia: travel guide
Harbour town on Flores and the launch point for Komodo boat trips
Gateway town to Komodo National Park on the western tip of Flores — harbour, LBJ airport, dive operators and hillside sunset bars; the base from which Komodo, Rinca, Padar and Pink Beach are visited by boat.
About Labuan Bajo
Labuan Bajo is a small harbour town on the western tip of Flores, and it exists largely as the base for Komodo National Park. Its waterfront is a working mix of boats, dive shops and sunset bars on the hills above.
From here, boats run to Komodo and Rinca islands to see the dragons on guided walks, to Padar for the viewpoint over its three bays, and to Pink Beach and Kanawa for snorkelling. The reefs make it a draw for divers as well.
Labuan Bajo suits travellers on a short island-hopping trip and those continuing across Flores. The dry season from April to November is the best time to visit Labuan Bajo for calm seas.
