Da Lat, Vietnam: travel guide
Cool highland town of pine hills, flowers and French-era villas
Nestled in the Central Highlands, Da Lat is known as the "City of Flowers" or the "City of Eternal Spring" due to its cool mountain climate. It is highly regarded for its French colonial villas, rolling pine hills, and serene lakes.
About Da Lat
Da Lat sits high in Vietnam's Central Highlands, and the cooler air is the first thing you notice after the heat of the lowlands. Pine-covered hills, a central lake and rows of French-era villas give it the feel of a mountain retreat, and it has long been a favourite honeymoon and weekend destination for Vietnamese travellers.
Things to do in Da Lat include circling Xuan Huong Lake, visiting the surreal, tree-like Crazy House, exploring the flower park and the night market, and heading out to Datanla Waterfall or Linh Phuoc Pagoda in Trai Mat. Strawberries, avocados and coffee grow in the surrounding hills.
Da Lat suits couples, families and anyone who wants a break from the coast. The best time to visit Da Lat is generally the dry season, from about December to April.
