Bintan, Indonesia: travel guide

Resort island in the Riau Archipelago, a short ferry from Singapore

Resort island in the Riau Archipelago, famed for white-sand beaches and luxury resorts a ferry-hop from Singapore.

About Bintan

Bintan is an island in the Riau Archipelago, a short ferry ride from Singapore, and it has become a popular escape for beach resorts, golf and spa breaks. It is an island rather than a single town, with resort areas along the north coast.

Lagoi Bay is the main resort enclave, with white sand and calm water. Trikora Beach on the east coast is more laid-back, with simple seafood restaurants, and Pulau Penyengat is a small historic island with a mosque and Malay heritage reached by boat. The Vihara Ksitigarbha temple adds a cultural stop.

Bintan suits short breaks, families and couples. The drier months from March to October are the best time to visit Bintan.
